About Me

Welcome! My name is Katelyn Cox.  I am a Licensed Midwife (LM) and the founder and owner of Surrender Midwifery.  I had my daughter at home in 2021 and started my journey to midwifery a few months later.  Midwifery has become a passion and service poured out from my heart!  

I have a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and Fitness Management from Lamar University.  After graduation, I became a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines where I enjoyed a career of service to people and travel for over 10 years.  After I moved to College Station in 2018 to be closer to family, I resigned from Southwest Airlines in 2022 to pursue midwifery full time.  I trained as a student midwife for 2.5 years under 5 different midwives in both the homebirth and birth center settings.  

My goal in the next 2-3 years is to finish a pre- and post- natal fitness certification, incorporate my passion for fitness into my passion for midwifery, and travel to Iceland!  I am always striving to learn and grow as both a midwife, a mother, and a person.

The word "surrender" in the name of this practice came from the Lord speaking this word over me in 2023.  I realized that it had so many meanings (surrendering my life to Him, my will to His will, and allowing Him to be the author of my every day) and also so many parallels to a mother surrendering herself in the process of birthing her baby.  

 I look forward to establishing a homebirth practice here and serving the mothers of the Brazos Valley!
