About Me

Welcome! My name is Katelyn Rigney. I am a Licensed Midwife (LM) and the founder and owner of Surrender Midwifery.

My journey into midwifery began close to home — I had my daughter at home in 2021, and just a few months later, I felt called to pursue this work as both a passion and a service poured out from my heart.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and Fitness Management from Lamar University. After graduation, I embarked on a career as a flight attendant with Southwest Airlines, spending over 10 years in service to people and exploring the world. In 2018, I moved to College Station to be closer to family, and in 2022 I resigned from Southwest Airlines to pursue midwifery full time. I trained as a student midwife for 2.5 years under five different midwives in both homebirth and birth center settings.

In November, I married my husband Daniel, a man I knew 13 years ago and whom God brought back to me at just the right time. Together, we are embracing a blended family with four wonderful children, and we are excitedly trusting the Lord's timing as we hope to grow our family even more in the years ahead. 

My goals over the next 2–3 years include completing a pre- and postnatal fitness certification and merging my lifelong love of fitness with my midwifery practice. I was lucky enough to cross Iceland off my bucket list last year — and I am always looking for the next adventure! 

The name Surrender Midwifery was born from a word the Lord spoke over me in 2023. I came to understand it on many levels — surrendering my life to Him, my will to His will, and allowing Him to be the author of my every day. It also beautifully mirrors the experience of a mother surrendering herself in the sacred process of birthing her baby.

I look forward to building a homebirth practice here and serving the mothers of the Brazos Valley!
